It's that time of the year.
When studios start sending out there screeners! Here are the four I've received so far this week!
Not too shabby. We saw Quantum of Solace this past weekend, and I was disappointed that it was not a standalone story like previous Bonds. I did however enjoy it. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this darker Bond by Daniel Craig. Little did I know that my membership allows me to go to most theaters in the LA area and see movies for free during awards season! That season is usually from October to February around here, and we're just starting to get both DVD screeners (finally, again) and invitations to film screeners. In the winter it's AMPAS, and during the summer it's ATAS. It all keeps me pretty busy.
On a side note, we now have almost 500 VFXWages beta keys out there, with about 80% of them signed up. We're planning on rolling out a new update before the Thanksgiving break, so there's a bit of work to do before then! Keep checking the site, as graphs and stats will be updated without notice. You can also subscribe to the VFXWages RSS Feed to get up-to-date information.
This November there are a lot of games out there, and I'm trying my best to get some action in, but aside from working, working on the VFXWages site, going to the gym, and having time for my lady friend, it gets pretty overwhelming. I picked up Fallout 3 a couple weeks ago, and I have yet to put that in the machine. I'm still playing Lost Odyssey, which is keeping my interest for an RPG, and I just started GOW2. I also picked up Portal: Still Alive, and somehow I get a chance to play that every once in a while.
Today is my last day of work for a week. I'm taking some more time off to relax, work on the site, and hit up Phoenix for Thanksgiving. Then I'm back again to real vfx work for another three weeks, then another two week vacation. After that time it'll be January, and I"ll be working my butt off on GI JOE until whenever it ends.
Hey! I tried to leave a comment on your vfxwages site, but it effed up because it sent a form through outlook, and i don't use outlook. Basically, i requested that you add an "animation" category to the company categories. I think the site is awesome though
Thanks!
